HALLELUJAH I'M READY TO GO Hallelujah I'm ready I can hear the voices singing soft and low I'm ready Hallelujah Hallelujah I'm ready to go In the darkness of night not a star was in sight On a highway heading down below I let my Savior in and he saved my soul from sin Hallelujah I'm ready to go Hallelujah I'm ready I can hear the voices singing soft and low I'm ready Hallelujah Hallelujah I'm ready to go Sinners don't wait before it's too late He's a wonderful Savior you know Well I fell on my knees and he answered my pleas Hallelujah I'm ready to go Hallelujah I'm ready I can hear the voices singing soft and low I'm ready Hallelujah Hallelujah I'm ready to go |

Another opener where Bob Dylan dares to point directly toward his wonderful savior telling his audience openly that his soul is "saved" and he is "ready to go".
He is certain that "this world can't stand too long" and there is not much time left for the sinner "on the highway heading down below". But his Savior still answers the pleas and helps the unbelief of everyone kneeling in deep contrition at the throne of mercy. For Bob Dylan it seems to be the only place where this sweet relief is to be found. And whoever has found it can truly say: "I'm ready, Hallelujah"! Only in Vancouver and in Horsens the song was performed outside the US. So far!!! On November 9th 1999, just three songs after this one, Bob treated the lucky Philadelphia audience to the first ever live performance of the opening song of his 1980 album "Saved". The song is delivered brilliantly, picking up the "ready to go" theme with the fitting last verse: "When life has ended, my time has run out, My friends and my loved ones I'll leave, there's no doubt. But there's one thing for certain, when it comes my time, I'll leave this old world with a satisfied mind." |
